Flash Animation Test ~ Final Project - December 2011

Hello. This is a presentation of some of my first time work here at the AAEP Gallery 37 Class, 3D Modeling (Motion Graphics included)
What I wanted to base my project around essentially, is a prologue to a hand-drawn animation I did from my other Gallery class which is based from the after school matters program, Experimental Animation.

This prologue will explain the events prior to that animation, starring my characters such as Agile, Drake, Boss, and so on. From the beginning, the protagonist Agile is on a small hunt to find a corrupt hunter nicknamed Boss. Boss, at first, looks wide across the base he's overlooking for any sign of Agile. What he doesn't know, is that Agile was taking a route underneath the surface where Boss is. Upon walking through the passage however, Agile is spotted by a surveillance camera that immediately sends feed to Boss himself. This, notifies Boss that he knows where he is, and calls out his servant to prepare for Agiles arrival. The servant, Drake Scarle, is shown hidden in a dark room at first where he emerges from the base Boss was overlooking earlier. Preparing for the enemy, he awaits and thus the end is the intro to the hand-drawn animation I created.

Now, for the technical junkies and those whom are familiar with these programs, I'll explain my best to cover my steps. At first, I had a storyboard setup to use different photo shots every time because I want the perspective to be clear on where the character is, and what the situation is. I created several backgrounds using flash. I used mainly the line tool and different color combinations of the fill tool to create scenes, backgrounds, and characters. To create motion, at times for example a walking cycle, I'd use motion tweens and frame editing to create the precise edits I wanted. Eventually after every scene was done (there was a total of 17-20 scenes) I took all my .swf files and music and sound effects I found on the interent through different providers where I was ready to edit. The editing process from over all various times, is accounted up to a sum of 3-5 hours total. (It was my first time, give me a break) However after editing and exporting the files into an .avi common format, my first flash video was created and the process overall was a long and tough road, filled with various experience growth and inspiration to get the job done.

The learning experience was without a doubt, hard as ever to being introduced to flash and photoshop as a beginner. I learned through photoshop the basics and developing skills. Through flash, I learned basic and developing animation skills to do animations now digitally. This helped me gain skills to work better on the digital field to further my process in development of learning new things from these programs. For this, I would essentially like to give my thanks upon my instructor, Kevin, whom helped me through the project by showing me the skills and help I needed to develop my animation. For it weren't for him, I'd still be stuck guessing how to do a simple movement of the body or coloring.

Accomplishments greatly improved a state over what I orignally expected. I learned overall more than what I wanted to, especially to learn how to create a flash movie, and improvement to introduction of making effects in after effects (Although not included in this project, I am learning the skills of developing more for another time.)

To present, this is a link to my finished project which was made entirely in Flash and edited with After Effects.
Onward, enjoy the presentation.
